General Questions

What is Dial2Do?

Dial2Do is a phone service that lets you get things done just by phoning a number and saying what you want done.

You can call Dial2Do and say "email" to send an email, "text" to send a text message, "reminder" to ... well you get the idea.

How do i use it?

Any time you want to do something, you dial your local access number for Dial2Do and we'll guide you through getting whatever you want done. For example, to send an email...

• We say "What would you like to do?" : You say "Email"
• We say "Email Who?" : You say "Dave"
• We say "Record your Email" : You say "Hello Dave, I'm trying out this life changing service called Dial2Do"

Hang up and we'll send the email. Your friends will get an email to read what you said, and also a link so they can hear the original audio.

Sounds like magic, tell me more things I can do?

We're adding services all the time. For now, here's the ones you can use:

• "Reminder" We'll ask you what you want to be reminded about, and then send you an email with the details, so you don't err, err, what was it again ? Oh yeah, forget.
• "Email" We'll ask you for the Contact you want to email and what you want to say to them. Then we'll send them an email with what you said, an a link to the audio so they can hear.
• "Text" Just like email, except this time we send a text (sms) message instead.
• "Twitter" Posts an Update to your twitter feed.
• "Jaiku" Posts an update to your Jaiku feed.
• "Feed" We will read an RSS feed for you.

How much does it cost?

Its FREE. We've locked up our accountants. All services are free during our Beta test.

If we do ever decide to charge for something, we'll give you plenty of notice and try to keep the basic services free.

Depending on where you are and the plan you have with your cellphone/phone operator, they will charge you normal rates for the call to dial2do.

Contacts

Why do I need Contacts?

You need to setup your Contacts to send them email, text messages or other. If you're not planning on using those services, you don't need to setup any contacts.

How do I setup my Contacts?

Click here. You should enter the full name, email address and phone number for each contact. If you have two contacts with the same name, you should enter an alternative name or nickname for one of them, so you can reference them when you're calling us.

How many Contacts can I add?

You may have up to 100 contacts in total.

Your Robots do not understand or recognise my friends name?

When you are adding/editing a contact, you can phonetically spell your friend's name in the 'say this' section and this will help our robots understand your contact's name.

Can I import contacts?

Yes, you can import contacts from Gmail or Outlook. Just click on the 'Contacts' tab and choose import and follow the instructions from there. It's easy.

Can I setup Groups of contacts?

Yes, you can set up Groups, just choose a name for your Group and add whichever contacts you would like to that Group.

On The Phone

What kind of phone can I use?

Dial2Do is designed for the mobile user, but will work with any phone - mobile or landline.

The phone must be a) yours (so don't use a shared land-line to access it or borrow your mammy's phone) and b) must have Caller ID enabled - that's pretty much any phone.

Why do I need my Caller ID enabled?

When you call dial2do, we need to know your phone number to recognize who you are. So, if you have your Caller ID disabled, we can't help you.

To activate your Called ID, choose the settings option on your mobile phone and 'activate' your Caller ID

How do I refer to Contacts when I'm talking to Dial2Do?

You can refer to a contact by the name you typed in for them when you added them.

If you have two contacts called Harvey Wallbanger, then you need to call them something different on your Contacts list, otherwise we won't know which Harvey you want to use.

What if I make a mistake?

If we don't understand what you said on the phone, we'll just say "Sorry ?" and you can say it again. You can say:

• "Start Over" to begin all over again.
• If however, you are in the middle of a recording, you must press * to cancel.

Does Dial2do transcribe my messages?

Yes we do. Nifty huh. Now there are a few things you need to know about this.

• Firstly, you should speak clearly when you call, that makes the transcription much more accurate. You DO NOT need to s.p.e.a.k s.l.oooo.w.l.y, just clearly.
• Secondly, we use a combination of technology and human quality control to transcribe your message and check it for quality. Under certain circumstances, transcribers just listen to your audio and check it for accuracy.

Transcribers will not see your name, they will just hear your audio and be able to edit the transcription for quality.

Nevertheless, if you are working for the CIA or planning a major bank heist, and you absolutely don't want anyone to hear what you said, you can switch off transcription so nobody will hear.

What languages do you support?

Right now, we just support English. Email us at help@dial2do.com and we will notify you when you're language is available.

Using Jajah and Dial2Do

When I use Jajah to call or text my contacts, which number will Dial2Do use?

Right now, all three Dial2Do Jajah services (Call, Text and Conference) use only the mobile number of your contacts.
